  • Final test: (2 hours of individual activities). The staff may eventually support you during working days and office hours (approximately from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m).

Programme

  • The structure and charachteristics of our library services.
  • The digital library and the research tools.
  • Understanding the importance of the sources of information and managing copyright requirements.
  • The identification of the source of a document and the evaluation of its authority.
  • Editing bibliographic notes and a final bibliography according to standard rules.
  • The correct citation of bibliographic sources using standard citation styles and reference management softwares (e.g. Zotero).

How is the seminar structured

The theoretical part of the seminar requires you to study the materials of the Bibliorienta programme. In addition to that, it is also required to answer a series of short assessment questionnaires.

  1. Materials and questionnaires will be available in the “Seminar in English – Theoretical part” channel of the Bibliorienta Team.
  2. The students will autonomously complete the activities of the theorerical part before the beginning of the in-person meetings.
  3. The completion of the theoretical part will grant access to the laboratories and to the final test.

The practical part consists of two in-person laboratories in a room of one of the university libraries, plus a two-hour individual asynchronous activity to prepare for the final test. Please note that, during the laboratories...

  1. A laptop is required. If you do not have a pc, you may reserve one in a university library.
  2. Each student will practice by researching a subject of their choosing.
  3. In the first laboratory you will research and save the appropriate materials using the university research tools and the bibliographic software Zotero.
  4. During the second laboratory the students will work on a short text and on its bibliography system, using Zotero.

The final test consists of two activities: the “logbook” (to be filled in during the activities of the laboratories; the template and questions will be provided by the staff); a short text with bibliographic references and final bibliography (to be worked on during the in-person laboratories and completed in the two-hour activity required for the final test).

At the end of the seminar, the coordinator of the course will communicate to the appointed offices the names of those who will acquire the CFU and/or the Open Badge.

Those who might need a document that certifies their attendance to the seminar, to be sent to their thesis supervisors or their employers, must communicate it while signing up.

Please note that the CFU and the Open Badge cannot be acquired without the 12 hours of activities (final test included).

For further information, please write to casb.bibliorienta@unimc.it.

CFU, Open Badge and Choosing the Dates

The students that want to obtain the CFU (if allowed by their university course), and those that need to certify their attendance to Bibliorienta to their thesis supervisor, should communicate their request while compiling the registration form.

Those who will attend a Bibliorienta workshop and complete all the assignments (final test included) will be automatically granted an intermediate level Open Badge, regardless of the CFU.

Should you miss one of the two laboratories, you will not acquire the CFU nor the Open Badge. However, you will have the chance to attend another class during the subsequent workshop.
